Algarve startups get chance to shine at Web Summit

ANJE launches contest to pick 24 projects that will put Algarve innovation on the world stage

ANJE, the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, has launched a contest to select 24 startups from the Algarve to take part in the 2025 Web Summit in Lisbon.

The initiative is part of a project called ‘Algarve Empreende 2026’ which sets out five key goals: to boost the international profile of the Algarve’s startup ecosystem, stimulate the creation and growth of regional businesses, strengthen skills in innovation and technology, open doors to investors, partners and clients worldwide, and give Algarve startups global visibility.

The chosen startups will showcase their projects at the Start-Up Island Algarve Empreende 2026, a collective stand bringing together the 24 selected companies from the region. Each startup will get one full day at one of the eight rotating booths, ensuring every project has its moment in the spotlight. While the entry pass covers all three days of the event, presentations are split across the duration of Web Summit. The stand is expected to be located in the pavilion next to StartUp Portugal.

The deadline for applications is Friday, September 5, at 11.59pm. Online registration is free, but applications must be submitted in English.

Contest regulations can be found online in English and Portuguese.

The Web Summit is Europe’s biggest technology conference and is taking place from November 10 to 13 at Altice Arena and FIL.
