The tennis courts in the small coastal town of Altura, located at Praceta Professor Luís Amaro, have been given a new lease of life following a recent renovation.
The upgraded courts feature a professional-grade fast surface, along with new nets and fencing, making them ideal for promoting sport and physical activity in Castro Marim.
A free access system will soon be introduced, the municipal council of Castro Marim says, adding that players will be asked to book the courts before using them.
To help maintain the facility, the municipality has outlined some basic rules: appropriate footwear is required; bicycles, scooters and skateboards are prohibited; food and drinks are not allowed; pets must stay outside; and gates should be kept closed when the courts are not in use.
Looking ahead, the site will also see a revamp of the skate park, with improved safety features and modernised equipment.
