Apolónia marks 43 years with discounts, tastings and in-store celebrations

Over 1,500 products will be available with discounts of up to 50%

Supermarket chain Apolónia Supermercados will celebrate its 43rd anniversary on Monday, March 23, with a series of initiatives across its stores in Almancil, Galé and Lagoa.

Customers can expect discounts, product tastings and other in-store moments designed to mark more than four decades of history in the Algarve’s retail sector.

Founded in the region, the family-run business has built a strong presence over the years, known for its wide range of national and international products, including gourmet and specialty items, as well as its close relationship with customers.

As part of the celebrations, over 1,500 products will be available with discounts of up to 50% in physical stores and online. Shoppers who spend over €10 will receive a reusable Apolónia bag, while purchases above €50 will include a jute bag, limited to one per customer, in a move aimed at encouraging reusable options.

The programme also includes smaller touches throughout the day. Customers will be invited to toast the occasion with a glass of sparkling wine and a pastel de nata, while coffee will be offered in the café areas.

A range of tastings is also planned, featuring products such as wines from Algarve producer Arvad, Comté cheese, scallop carpaccio, Uruguayan beef and fresh fruit served with melted chocolate.

Isabel Silvestre, Head of Operations at Apolónia, said the anniversary is “an opportunity to mark the company’s journey and thank customers for the trust they have placed in the brand over the years.”

Apolónia currently operates three supermarkets and a distribution centre, employing around 400 people. The company says its continued focus on product quality, variety and customer service has helped establish it as a trusted name in the Algarve.
