The Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) conducted an operation in tourist areas of Albufeira, leading to the suspension of operations at four establishments as a precaution and the start of 10 administrative offence proceedings.

The operation, carried out on Friday, targeted the “food and beverage, convenience and alcoholic beverage, grocery, and other sectors located in areas of high tourist traffic in the municipality of Albufeira,” the Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) said in a statement released today.

Among the main violations identified were “a lack of guarantee of the potability of the water used in the activity, a lack of mere prior communication, and a lack of mandatory legal notices related to the sale and availability of alcohol, tobacco, among others,” it added.

In addition to initiating 10 administrative proceedings, the operation concluded that “the suspension of the activities of four establishments, as a precautionary measure, for violation of the general duties of the operator of the food and beverage establishment and a lack of guarantee of the potability of the water used in the activity,” was necessary.
