Radical sports festival pulls thousands to Albufeira

Debut edition was hailed a success

Thousands of people attended the first edition of Albufeira Radical, a new extreme sports festival held between April 2 and 4 at Praia dos Pescadores.

The event, geared specifically towards younger generations, featured a mix of live music, sports and cultural activities, drawing large crowds throughout the three days.

Rui Cristina, mayor of Albufeira, described the event as “extremely positive”. For the mayor, “this first edition clearly exceeded our expectations, not only because of the huge turnout, but also due to the atmosphere experienced over the three days”.”

He also highlighted the impact on the local economy. “At a strategic time such as Easter, we managed to bring thousands of people to the city, significantly boosting economic activity in the municipality and mitigating the effects of seasonality,” he added.

The event is part of the official Albufeira European City of Sport 2026 programme.

Alongside the concerts, the event included a wide range of sports activities, with competitions and demonstrations in skateboarding, BMX, inline skating, scooters, climbing, surfing, kayaking, parkour and foiling.
