Registrations have opened for a special discussion on the Algarve’s blue economy, taking place on April 9 from 10am to 12pm at CCDR Algarve in Faro.
Organised by the Ireland Portugal Business Network, the session will bring together key voices from across the region.
Building on a recent sustainability conference in Lisbon, the event shifts the focus to the Algarve to “explore both the challenges facing coastal environments and the opportunities the blue economy presents for sustainable growth.”
Among the speakers is José Apolinário, president of the regional development commission CCDR Algarve, who will outline the region’s Smart Specialisation Strategy and its strong focus on ocean-related innovation and investment.
He will be joined by Patrícia Pinto, Vice-Rector for Partnerships and representative of the European University of the Seas initiative, and Antónia Correia, who will present work being developed through the Code Blue Project in the field of sustainable tourism.
The event is open to both members and non-members, offering a chance to connect with policymakers, researchers and innovators shaping the future of the Algarve’s coastal economy. Participation is free, but registration is required.
