To mark Portugal’s National Sustainability Day on September 25, the British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (BPCC), in collaboration with systems and technology innovation platform ALGARVE STP, and Algarve Evolution – a vibrant community of entrepreneurs and digital innovators – will host an insight-driven sustainability event at the UAlg Tec Campus start-up incubator on the Penha University Campus in Faro.
This dynamic session, which starts at 9.30am, will bring together regional leaders and innovators to share how the Algarve is quietly redefining sustainability, addressing current challenges, and moving beyond buzzwords to showcase real-world solutions, research, and projects shaping the region’s future.
Keynote speakers and topics feature:
- Célia Meira, Ombria Algarve – The New Generation Resort: Redefining Luxury Tourism and Real Estate for Tomorrow
- Bert Waanders, Operation DENYSE – Renewable Energies for All Communities
- Rui Virginia, Quinta do Barranco Longo – Sustainability in Wine Growing: Going beyond Green
- André Pacheco, UAlg Researcher – Culatra 2030: Communities of the Future
The half-day event will include a mid-morning coffee break, networking and, in the afternoon, an optional excursion to Culatra Island.
BPCC CEO Chris Barton said: “With sustainability high on everyone’s agenda, this event couldn’t be timelier. By collaborating with forward-thinking partners like Algarve STP and Algarve Evolution, this is a unique opportunity to sit front-row to the progress being made in the Algarve.”
