Countdown begins for Carvoeiro’s Black & White Night

Event has grown into one of the largest open-air parties in Portugal

The countdown has begun for one of southern Portugal’s most popular summer events: the Carvoeiro Black & White Night.

Held for the first time in 2014, the event has grown into a major celebration of the summer solstice which attracts thousands of visitors to the picturesque village of Carvoeiro every year.

Drawing inspiration from the Celtic festival of Litha, the event is famous for painting the village black and white and has grown into one of the largest open air-parties in Portugal, pulling 30,000 revellers on average.

Festivities unfold throughout Carvoeiro’s streets and beachside square, with multiple stages and themed areas offering a dynamic mix of performances. From magic acts and silent films to live jazz and beachside dance floors, the program is packed from 8.30pm to 3am.

In classic Black & White fashion, all guests are encouraged to wear only black and white, a visual theme that carries through the night’s performances and decorations, creating a unique atmosphere.

To support the large crowds, free shuttle buses will run between Carvoeiro and key parking areas including Fatacil, Intermarché, Apolónia, Aldi, and Gramital, operating continuously 6pm to 4am.

Described as a “celebration of culture, music and summer energy,” the event promises to turn Carvoeiro into a “vibrant stage for unforgettable experiences,” organisers say.
