The inland village of Furnazinhas in Castro Marim will host a full day of activities on April 19, including a rural fair, a fun walk-run and free health screenings.
Held in the parish of Odeleite, the initiative combines sport, local traditions and community health in a single day of activities.
Between 8.30am and 11am, young members of the volunteer firefighters in Vila Real de Santo António and Castro Marim will carry out health checks, including blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol tests. Residents are invited to make a small donation to support the purchase of equipment and uniforms.
At 10am, the Marcha Corrida walk-run event gets underway, organised by Castro Marim council, with 5km and 11km routes as part of the Algarve Regional Walking and Running Calendar. Registrations are open until April 17 via phone (+351 281 495 148 | +351 281 510 740 | freguesiadeodeleite@gmail.com | tiago.gil@cm-castromarim.pt).
Also starting at 10am, the Feira do Campo opens its doors, offering a showcase of the best of the Algarve’s inland areas, including handicrafts, local produce, farm animals and workshops on bread and cheese making. Entertainment will be provided by Silvino Campos and the Rancho Folclórico da Luz de Tavira.
