With over 25 years of international experience in the hotel sector, Daniel Ozzán has been appointed general manager of Viceroy at Ombria Algarve, the first hotel of the American brand in southern Europe, bringing strategic knowledge, operational excellence and leadership expertise to the resort.
Daniel Ozzán has held leadership positions in hotel operations, but also in corporate management.
He began his professional career in finance in 2000 and has since held prominent positions, including Finance Director for IHG in the United Kingdom, Spain and Portugal, and Head of Finance for Latin America.
He was also Director of Development for Marriott in Latin America and General Manager of Marriott Buenos Aires. More recently, he led Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection hotel in Peru, where he served as General Manager for the past two years.
A native of Buenos Aires, Daniel now brings his global perspective on luxury hospitality to Portugal, where he will be responsible for overseeing the resort’s operations, ensuring continued excellence in service and Viceroy’s signature standards, while strengthening the resort’s connection to the landscape and local community.
Daniel Ozzán says: “It is an honour to join the team at Viceroy at Ombria Algarve at such an important time for the hotel. With its natural surroundings and commitment to the local community, the resort stands out for the experiences it offers its guests, who have the opportunity to experience the culture of the Algarve.
“With a background in both operations and development, my goal is to build on the hotel’s success while strengthening its connection to the local community. I am excited to bring new ideas to life as we chart the next chapter for Viceroy at Ombria Algarve.”
Located north of Loulé, in the Algarve’s hinterland, the Viceroy at Ombria Algarve opened in late 2024, offering guests the opportunity to discover “the other side” of the region.
The resort offers 360-degree panoramic views of the rugged hills and open plains of the Algarve, combining a tranquil atmosphere with a strong sense of local identity.
Guests can choose from six restaurants and bars, where regional wines and local cuisine play a prominent role. Dishes are prepared with ingredients sourced from the hotel’s vegetable garden and orchard, as well as from local producers.
Cultural experiences include pottery workshops, visits to farms and apiaries, olive oil tastings and visits to vineyards.
The spa, developed in partnership with wellness visionary Greg Payne, opened in spring 2025 and features a thermal pool, eight treatment rooms, beauty services and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.
Sustainability is at the heart of the resort’s philosophy, with initiatives such as a plant nursery, restoration of the riverside habitat, planting of 700 cork oaks, and the use of solar and geothermal energy – all reflected in the bioclimatic architecture of the space.
