Visitors to the Galeria Santo António art gallery in Monchique will be able to view works from two different artists during an exhibition that opens on August 14.
Vera Christians studied art history and literature in Munich before she moved to Portugal in 1985 and started painting.
Her works were part of the Arte Algarve art fair held in June where she became one of the best selling artists with her lobster work.
Meanwhile, Jean Brown, a former student of St John’s Wood School of Art, Sir John Cass School of Fine Art and St Martin’s School of Art in London, will be displaying her sculptures during
the exhibition.
Jean Brown specialises in bronze figures, using her studies in drawing and anatomy to help her in her ceramic shell casting, enabling her to develop her own foundry and cast her own work.
The bronzes are inspired by movement, mood and body language and Jean uses influences from the rural Algarve and the local people in her work.
Guests are invited to the opening of the exhibition to be held at the Galeria Santo António in Monchique on August 14 with live music from 9pm.
The exhibition is due to run until September 9.
