Dozens meet  in Portimão to discuss ‘Future of the Algarve’

A book presentation event led by Swedish investor, consultant and author Jack Soifer was attended by around 60 people, including two Algarve mayors and 18 businesspeople from nine countries.

The event took place on Friday, December 5 at Portimão Museum and saw Soifer present four of his own books: How to Get Out of the Crisis – Algarve/Alentejo, How to Get Out of the Crisis – Baixo Tejo/Beiras, Algarve/Alentejo – My Love (partly bilingual), and Portugal Post-Troika, a bilingual collaboration by eight authors from five countries.

The event, whose theme was ‘The Future of the Algarve’, opened with speeches by the mayors of Portimão, Álvaro Bila, and Lagos, Hugo Pereira. In attendance were also 18 entrepreneurs from Norway, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Rhodesia, Colombia and the USA. Among the sectors represented were banking, finance, IT, architecture, construction, real estate brokerage, justice, client support, niche marketing, electrical engineering, computer maintenance, organic farming, marine resources, start-up monitoring, medical management, law, podiatry, osteopathy, and music.

Soifer, a Swedish investor with decades of experience in Portugal, has been actively engaged in the country since 1980. A passionate walker and keen observer of Portuguese life, he has explored the Algarve and Alentejo extensively, visiting some 80 industries and 98 wineries. He has played a pivotal role in promoting wine tourism, hosting tastings for high-level professionals and VIPs from across the globe.
