The municipal council of Lagoa has announced there will be no second phase of applications for the town’s flagship summer event, Fatacil, after overwhelming demand filled most available spaces.
The first application window closed on March 21 and saw all spots in the restaurants and crafts areas fully booked, along with most of the commercial and industrial exhibition spaces.
Due to the high level of demand and the lack of remaining capacity, organisers say a second round of applications will not be opened, in line with the event’s regulations.
“This strong interest confirms Fatacil’s importance as one of the biggest fairs in the south of the country, known for its diversity, dynamism and capacity to attract exhibitors and visitors,” the council says in a statement.
Held during the height of summer, the fair regularly draws crowds of around 20,000 visitors per day. Often described as one of the largest events south of the Tagus River, it brings together a diverse programme that includes live concerts, business and agricultural exhibitions, equestrian shows, handicrafts, food stalls and a wide range of entertainment.
