FC Porto head to Algarve for mid-season training camp

FC Porto currently lead the Portuguese League with a seven-point advantage over Sporting CP

With the first half of the season wrapped up, FC Porto are heading south to the Algarve for a short training camp as they gear up for the second half of the campaign.

The team will be based in Quinta do Lago, in Almancil, where they will train until Friday, the club announced on its website. As part of the programme, Porto are set to play a behind-closed-doors friendly against SC Farense on Friday.

The squad, led by head coach Francesco Farioli, are flying to Faro Airport this Tuesday morning and return to Porto on Friday afternoon.

Once back, Porto’s focus will quickly shift to a high-stakes Clássico against SL Benfica, with tickets already sold out. The Portuguese Cup quarter-final will be played on Wednesday, January 14, at the Estádio do Dragão, with kick-off at 8.45pm and live coverage on RTP1.

FC Porto failed to qualify for the Final Four of the Portuguese League Cup, which is taking place this week in Leiria, leaving their schedule open. The club leads the Portuguese League, however, with an impressive 16 wins and one draw in 17 matches, and a seven-point advantage over second-placed Sporting CP.
