Firefighters still on scene as blaze now contained to within building
Algarve firefighters were called out at lunchtime this afternoon to a fire at the Outeiro (Almancil) premises of waste management company, Algar.
At first, the black smoke rising up from the fire could be seen from many kms away.
Quickly tackled, the flames were soon contained to inside the building.
It appears to have started in what reports describe as an “unconfined debris zone”, inside the premises.
Firefighters from various fire stations were dispatched, and at 4pm were still on the scene, albeit the fire is being classified as “in conclusion”.
