Gang filmed attack; posted it online and walked off with victim’s phone
GNR police have announced the arrests of five youths, all aged 17, whom they believe to have been responsible for the vicious attack on an 18-year-old British tourist in Albufeira earlier this month, which was filmed and later uploaded online.
In a statement, the police said: “following an investigation into a robbery using violent aggression against an 18-year-old man, which took place on July 17 in the city of Albufeira”, agents “carried out investigations which enabled the suspects to be identified and located”.
The five youngsters, all Portuguese, have had their mobile phones seized as evidence. They were held overnight in police cells and were due to be brought before Portimão Judicial Court today.
