Handmade gifts that help – and lives that need a home

In Odiáxere, Cadela Carlota took in four tiny kittens, found abandoned inside a box

Our volunteer Karin is once again combining creativity and compassion for animals in need. You can find her at the Posto Municipal de Exposições, right in the heart of Lagos, until November 15, from 11am to 5pm.

Karin’s pop-up shop is full of beautiful handmade pieces, perfect for gifts or a treat for yourself – each one crafted with care and purpose. From cosy knits to unique accessories, every item supports Cadela Carlota’s rescue work, with 100% of proceeds helping to feed, treat and rehome abandoned animals.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to start your Christmas shopping with heart, knowing your purchase directly changes lives.

This week has reminded us why Karin’s work – and your support – matters so much. In Odiáxere, we took in four tiny kittens, found abandoned inside a box. They’re only about six weeks old and far too trusting to have grown up on the streets, which tells us they likely came from a home. Sweet, sociable, and already eating on their own, these little ones have been seen by a vet and are now safe in foster care while they wait for loving families.

As always, we follow an adoption protocol for both cats and dogs, which includes a home visit to ensure the right match. Spaying, microchipping, and veterinary care are mandatory – and fully covered by our organisation.

We also want to introduce Charlie, a gentle young dog found wandering alone. Charlie is medium-small, around one year old, affectionate, and eager to please. He’s obedient and walks beautifully on the lead, but he’s still building confidence after life on the streets. What he needs most is a patient, loving home where he won’t be left alone for long. In return, you’ll gain the most loyal and grateful companion imaginable.
