King’s College School Cascais opens €75 million campus

State-of-the-art €75 million campus in Cascais offers world-class facilities for students aged 1 to 18

King’s College School Cascais has officially inaugurated its new campus following a €75 million investment, the largest ever made in a school in Portugal.

“For the first time, the country has truly world-class educational facilities that rival the best international colleges and elevate the level of private education in Portugal,” the school says in a statement.

Spread over 40,000 square metres, the campus includes “international-standard sports fields, a modern sports pavilion with capacity for large events, a heated 25-metre indoor swimming pool, a state-of-the-art auditorium, classrooms equipped with the latest technology, university-level science laboratories, and dedicated spaces for creative and performing arts”. The project was carried out with strong support from the municipal council of Cascais, which the school credits as instrumental in making the new infrastructure a reality.

This academic year also marks the launch of a boarding programme, placing King’s College School Cascais among the first private schools in Portugal to offer such an option. The new residence can accommodate up to 50 students aged 13 and above in an “international, safe, and enriching environment”. In addition, two students, aged 14 and 15, will join through the Nsouli Scholars programme, receiving full scholarships and boarding as part of a commitment to providing opportunities to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“Our aim is to foster innovation, build confidence, and help young minds learn and grow so they can thrive in the world,” said John Leitão, CEO of Inspired Education Group in Portugal. “For the first time, Portugal has a school that in terms of infrastructure and quality competes with the best in the world. The investment carried out reflects our commitment to providing the country with a world-class education infrastructure, with state-of-the-art technology and facilities of excellence, providing a unique academic, cultural and international experience.”

The school admits students from ages 1 to 18. From Year 1 to Year 5, families can opt for a bilingual pathway combining the Cambridge curriculum with the Portuguese national curriculum. From Year 7 onward, students follow the international route in English: Cambridge International Curriculum (Years 7–9), IGCSE (Years 10–11), and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (Years 12–13).

Part of the Inspired Education Group –  which has 121 premium schools across five continents and more than 95,000 students – King’s College School Cascais “combines the academic tradition of the King’s College network with state-of-the-art facilities,” the school says. “Students benefit from the group’s international opportunities, including exchange programmes, summer and winter camps, global competitions, and access to innovative educational technologies”.
