With colder weather on the way, the municipal council of Lagos has launched a campaign encouraging residents to donate blankets, coats, and other warm clothing to help people living without shelter this winter.
The initiative, running throughout October, is organised in partnership with Lagos Solidário Resource Bank and NPISA (the Local Planning and Homeless Intervention Unit), and aims to provide essential items to those in need while strengthening community involvement with the most vulnerable.
Donations of blankets, sleeping bags, coats, scarves, hats, gloves, towels, underwear, jumpers, trousers, and tracksuits can be delivered to the Lagos Solidário Resource Bank at Rua José Afonso, no. 23, Cave B (the former Water Shop).
Opening hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 3pm to 5pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10am to 12pm.
All collected items will be distributed among local associations that provide direct support to people living without a home.
As winter approaches, the council is urging everyone who can to contribute.
