Domes Resorts takes over management of Algarve five-star resort

Cascade Wellness Resort in Lagos becomes group’s second property in the country

Domes Resorts is expanding its presence in Portugal after taking over the management of the Cascade Wellness Resort, a five-star property in the Algarve.

The move marks the group’s second hotel in Portugal and its third outside Greece, as it continues to grow its footprint across key European leisure destinations.

The resort, located on the cliffs of the Ponta da Piedade coastal area in Lagos, is owned by Hotel Investment Partners (HIP), one of the largest resort owners in southern Europe, backed by funds managed by Blackstone and GIC.

Set across 38 hectares, the resort includes 164 accommodation units and is designed around a theme inspired by the Portuguese Age of Discoveries. It offers a wide range of facilities, including several swimming pools, a spa, fitness centre, tennis courts and FIFA-standard football pitches.

The property also features four dining venues combining international cuisine with local Algarve flavours, as well as family-focused amenities such as a kids’ club and football academy.

In a statement to the press, Domes Resorts says the deal reflects its strategy of expanding into established Mediterranean destinations through partnerships with major investors.

“We are very pleased to expand our presence in Portugal through this partnership, further strengthening our collaboration with HIP, the leading hotel owner in the Mediterranean,” says Domes Resorts CEO George P. Spanos.

“The Algarve is a well-established destination with a long tourist season and strong fundamentals, making it a natural choice for our expansion strategy. The Cascade Wellness Resort is a well-positioned asset in a premium location, contributing to the continued diversification of our portfolio in key Mediterranean destinations,” the CEO added.

The addition strengthens the group’s presence in Portugal, following its existing operation at the Domes Lake Algarve Autograph Collection in Vilamoura.
