A 32-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of this Tuesday morning after being caught breaking into a store in Portimão, PSP police have confirmed.
Officers were called to the scene following a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, they found the suspect still inside the shop, attempting to open the cash register.
The man had forced entry through the front door and had already packed several bottles of alcohol into bags, with the haul valued at around €300.
The suspect was immediately detained and taken into custody. He was expected to appear in Portimão court this Tuesday.
In a statement to the press, the regional command of PSP police in Faro stressed the importance of public vigilance, urging citizens to report any suspicious activity to help prevent crimes.
