Renault has launched a ‘petition’ on Facebook to encourage a Socialist member of parliament to drive a Clio after he made depreciative comments about the car brand. Francisco Assis, the President of the PS Parliamentary Group, had said: “One day, you’ll expect the President of the PS Parliamentary Group to drive a Renault Clio!”. He was responding to criticism over the purchase by the PS of four top-of-the-range vehicles costing a total of €210,000.
The Facebook ‘petition’, entitled Eu quero ver o Francisco Assis a andar de Renault Clio! (I want to see Francisco Assis driving a Renault Clio) had garnered more than 1,100 ‘likes’ at the time of going to press.
