New food festival in Lagos aims to celebrate joy of eating together

Event will take place throughout May

Restaurants in Lagos are being invited to sign up for a new gastronomic event set to take place throughout May, aimed at celebrating shared dining.

Inspired by the culture of eating together, the first edition of “TRAVESSAS de Lagos” will offer visitors and residents the chance to explore different restaurants and try specially created “travessas” — platters of small dishes designed for groups. Organisers say the goal is not just a food route, but a social experience focused on conviviality, discovery and the “collective joy of eating together”.

Participating restaurants will be asked to create an exclusive platter for four people, inspired by local gastronomy, be it through regional products, traditional recipes or modern takes on Algarve cuisine.

Each restaurant will offer a fixed €20 menu, which includes the shared platter and four drinks.

The format takes inspiration from popular initiatives such as the Estrella Damm Tapas Route or Rota do Petisco, originally created in Portimão but which later expanded to other Algarve boroughs.

Visitors will need to buy a “sharing pass” costing €2.50, which gives access to the participating restaurants through a digital system.

Organisers say the event is also designed to help restaurants increase visibility, attract new customers and boost business during the spring season.

By bringing together multiple venues, the initiative aims to boost Lagos as a key destination for gastronomy and cultural experiences.

Registrations are limited, and interested restaurants can apply by contacting the organisers via email or WhatsApp for further details.
