A recent collaboration between the Grupo Lágrimas and the Grupo Alexandre de Almeida has resulted in the merging of a range of heritage hotels located across Portugal, to create the newly branded group Thema Hotels & Resorts.
This merger aims to sustain, strengthen and promote both groups and the products they have to offer.
Thema Hotels & Resorts is the chosen brand name to promote both historic and contemporary hotels owned by the two groups.
Hotels, villas and restaurants under the new brand can be found in Porto, Coimbra, Lisbon and in the Algarve.
The Thema Hotels & Resorts units are said by the partnering groups to be “iconic sanctuaries located in outstanding destinations around Portugal, where understated luxury blends with warm service.

Based in the Algarve, Thema Hotels & Resorts’ only southern based accommodation, Vila Monte, is said to be “the Algarve’s best kept secret, located between Faro and Tavira.
