Albufeira unveils string of nighttime performances at Largo Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco
The Algarve’s tourist hotspot of Albufeira has announced a vast program of nighttime summer entertainment at Largo Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco, a bustling square in the town’s historic centre.
The program features a wide range of live performances, from concerts and dance performances to Capoeira demonstrations, taking place most Wednesdays until September 10 at 9.30pm.
The entertainment began on June 18 with performances by FUETE – Albufeira’s Dance Academy and the lively Popular Marches of Paderne. June’s program wraps up with the sounds of Al-Buhera, a group known for its traditional Portuguese music, taking the stage on June 25.
July brings a variety of dance performances, including LUEL – Art in Motion on July 2, and SOUL Academia on July 9. Later in the month, audiences can enjoy the colourful Marcha Popular from Olhão and a showcase of Ballroom and Sport Dance by FC Ferreiras (July 16), followed by Entretenga, a folk singing group (July 23), and a high-energy Capoeira demonstration from Grupo Muzenza (July 30).
Festivities continue in August with the Rancho Folclórico de Albufeira taking the stage on August 6, followed by Banda Alhada on August 13. After a one-week break, Oriental Dances courtesy of FC Ferreiras will resume the entertainment on August 27.
The final two performances are scheduled for September, with the Rancho Folcórico de Algoz set to perform on September 3 while local band Os Naira will close out the festivities on September 10.
Albufeira mayor José Carlos Rolo has highlighted the importance of the summer season to the municipality, stressing that the entertainment program aims to “showcase the best that Albufeira has to offer.”
