After being named as one of Portugal’s richest men this year, Alexandre Soares dos Santos has confirmed that he will be leaving his post as chairman of the Jerónimo Martins Group to retire.
Speaking to SIC Notícias, the chairman of Jerónimo Martins, which owns supermarket chain Pingo Doce, said his departure from the group was expected at the end of the year. His son Pedro Soares dos Santos is the group’s CEO.
A replacement for Alexandre Soares dos Santos has yet to be announced.
