Portimão hosts European Futsal Elite

The Record International Masters Futsal tournament returns to the Portimão Arena on August 23 and 24.

Futsal fans rejoice! Portimão is once again set to host the world’s largest international futsal tournament. The Record International Masters Futsal 2025 will be held on August 23 and 24 at the Portimão Arena, bringing together four of the sport’s leading clubs: Benfica, Sporting, Barcelona, and Palma Futsal.

For the first time, the event will feature the Youth Masters Futsal, aimed at youth teams, which will include only teams from the Algarve Football Association in its inaugural year.

The Record International Masters Futsal, after a year-long hiatus (due to the World Cup), returns to Portimão for the seventh edition of this competition, organised by Sigma Stars.

On August 23 and 24, Portimão Arena will host the two finalists of the last edition of the Liga Placard: national champions Benfica and runners-up Sporting, as well as European champions Palma Futsal and Spanish runners-up Barcelona. Over two days, the public will be able to watch four top-quality matches at affordable prices, enabling everyone to follow the world’s futsal elite closely and attend the best tournament in the world.

This year’s edition will also include a new feature: the Youth Masters Futsal, a tournament for youth teams that, in its debut, will exclusively favour teams from the Algarve. This competition will be held in the days leading up to the Record International Masters, between August 20 and 23. The matches will also take place at Arena Portimão, with the final scheduled for August 23 at 19:00. The following teams will participate in the Youth Masters Futsal:

Series 1:

CRD Santaluziense

GEJUPCE Portimão

Portimonense SC

São Pedro Futsal Clube de Faro

Series 2:

CDR Pedra Mourinha

Louletano DC

SVRDC Ferragudense

UD Castromarinense

According to Sigma Stars Administrator, Paulo Jorge, “The Record International Masters Futsal 2025 is a benchmark for the sport and is always eagerly awaited by fans of this ever-growing sport. We are privileged once again to welcome four of the best teams in the world, and I would also like to take a moment to highlight the debut of this youth development initiative. The Youth Masters will allow dozens of young athletes from the region to play on one of the country’s greatest stages, the Portimão Arena. We want, together with the Portimão City Council and our partners, to once again host an excellent competition, at the level we have accustomed our attendees to.”

Portimão Mayor, Álvaro Miguel Bila, states: “Portimão is a municipality committed to hosting major sporting events, and the Record International Masters Futsal 2025 has all the necessary features to attract even more fans in its seventh edition to watch the matches featuring these internationally renowned teams. Therefore, it is with great enthusiasm that the Municipality supports this major competition, which demonstrates the Portimão Arena’s hosting capacity and unique conditions, as well as the significance and scale of this sporting event. This year, it also presents an opportunity for young athletes, many from local clubs, to compete on this prestigious stage. We aim for it to be a high-level tournament, as it has been so far, with strong public attendance from both residents and numerous tourists who choose Portimão as a holiday destination during this season.
