The FIP and the Padel Portimão Open 10,000 will take place at the Municipal Tennis Complex between August 6 and 10.
The Portimão Municipal Tennis and Padel Complex will be the focal point of sport from August 6 to 10, simultaneously hosting two prestigious padel tournaments with hundreds of athletes from different countries.
Although they are two separate competitions, the Portimão FIP Silver and Bronze and the Padel Portimão Open 10,000 by Carlsberg will take place simultaneously at this Portimão venue in the early days of next month.
The installation of a central court within the indoor tennis courts, including bleachers with a capacity of 500 spectators to accommodate all the sport’s fans, demonstrates the capacity and logistical preparation for this large-scale event around the sport.
Internationally, the FIP Silver for male athletes and the Bronze for female athletes count towards the Cupra FIP Tour 2025 and are part of the International Padel Federation’s world circuit, contributing to the world rankings. Meanwhile, the Padel Portimão Open 10,000, organised by Carlsberg, counts towards the national rankings and attracts hundreds of athletes across various categories.
These two free-to-enter sporting events guarantee top-level matches, inspiring fans of the sport and curious spectators to visit the Portimão Municipal Tennis and Padel Complex to watch these competitions live.
Portimão FIP mobilises approximately 100 professional athlete pairs
The considerable size of the Portimão FIP Silver and FIP Bronze competitions is reflected in the participation of around 100 professional male and female pairs from across Europe. Notably, there will be strong involvement from athletes from neighbouring Spain and a significant Portuguese contingent.
Athletes will compete not only for ranking points but also for a prize money of €11,000, divided equally between the two main teams, each comprising 32 pairs. In the case of Silver, the male team, a total of €7,500 will be at stake, while for Bronze, the female athletes, €3,500 will be up for grabs.
The Portimão FIP matches will take place throughout the day, with August 6 and 7 reserved for qualifying rounds in the women’s and men’s categories. The main draws will be played between August 8 and 10, and the finals are scheduled for Sunday, the 10th.
360 Portuguese pairs compete in the Portimão Open
In parallel, the Municipal Complex will host the official national 10,000-category event, the Padel Portimão Open by Carlsberg, a competition counting towards the national ranking.
Besides Portuguese athletes participating in the FIP in the M1 and F1 categories, the competition will include around 360 pairs registered in the other categories (M2 to M6 and F2 to F6), covering both genders. The matches will start at 19:00 on August 7 and 8, and at 09:00 during the weekend of August 9 and 10.
Given the size of the event, and depending on the final number of participants, a collaboration with the Lagos Tennis and Padel Club is planned, which may host part of the Portimão Open matches, using the six padel courts available at its facilities.
The events are organised by the Portimão Tennis and Padel Club, in partnership with the Portuguese Padel Federation and the International Padel Federation (FIP), with the support of the Portimão City Council and Carlsberg.
