Portugal has been chosen by UEFA to stage the Women’s Under-19 European Championship in 2028.
Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) president Pedro Proença has celebrated the decision, saying the event is “a valuable opportunity to contribute to the development of youth women’s football,” while also highlighting Portugal’s strong football culture and proven record in hosting major competitions. “Portugal knows how to welcome, has football in its DNA, has already shown it can organise events of this scale, and has the best fans in the world,” he said.
The competition, held every year, will be followed in 2029 by an edition in Italy.
UEFA also announced the hosts for several upcoming men’s youth championships: Belgium and Turkey will share the Men’s Under-17 Euros in 2028, while the Men’s Under-19 tournaments will go to the Czech Republic in 2027, Bulgaria in 2028, and the Netherlands in 2029.
Portugal is also set to host the 2030 edition of the Men’s World Cup, alongside Spain and Morocco.
