Praia da Luz opens summer nurse station to handle holiday health woes

Nurse station in Praia da Luz is open every day from 10am to 6pm

Help will be nearby this summer in Praia da Luz, Lagos as the local nurse station has opened for the bathing season, ready to assist with minor health issues right by the sea.

Located in the former Guarda Fiscal post on Avenida dos Pescadores, the station is staffed by a qualified nurse daily from 10am to 6pm, offering quick access to first aid and basic care for beachgoers in need.

The unit is part of the “Postos de Praia” initiative by ULS Algarve (Algarve Local Health Unit), aiming to ease the pressure on emergency rooms and health centres by dealing with minor incidents right on-site.

From sunburns, jellyfish stings, and scraped knees, to mild nausea and weever fish stings, the nurse station is equipped to handle the usual beach injuries. More serious cases will be referred to the appropriate health services.

This beachside health boost comes with support from the Lagos branch of the Portuguese Red Cross and the Luz parish council, helping ensure a safe and welcoming environment for both residents and tourists.

Nearby, Porto de Mós beach also has a first-aid post, operated by the Lagos fire brigade, open daily from 10am to 7pm throughout the bathing season.
