Employees at the Portuguese daily newspaper Público are striking today (Friday) after the announcement of a collective dismissal within the company. The publication that is owned by Sonaecom is expected to dismiss 48 members of staff. The protest is to coincide with another strike by the Lusa news agency, from October 18 to 21, over budgetary cuts in 2013.
