Rain forces postponement of Portimão’s InDireita street festival

Event will no longer take place this Sunday

Portimão’s popular InDireita Street Fest won’t be taking over Rua Direita this Sunday (September 28) after all. Organisers have decided to postpone the event to October 5 due to forecasts of heavy rain.

“We love rain – maybe one day we’ll even do a rain dance in Portimão – but this Sunday won’t be the day,” joked local association P.O.I.S., which organises the event.

The street fair, which has quickly become a highlight of the town’s cultural calendar, was set to bring music, food stalls, creative workshops, a veggie market, handicrafts and even Acro Yoga to the historic centre. Instead, visitors will have to wait one more week to enjoy the party.

Created in 2024, InDireita has grown into a seasonal fixture, turning Rua Direita into a pedestrian zone buzzing with activity on the last Sunday of March, June, September and December. Stores along the street also open specially for the occasion.

The rescheduled edition will run on Sunday, October 5, from 10am to 10pm. Admission is free, and organisers promise to share the updated programme soon.
