Rainy weather to continue until the weekend

All of mainland Portugal under yellow alert due to bad weather

Portugal’s rainy weather is expected to continue until at least this weekend, according to forecasts from national weather institute IPMA.

The worst of the wet weather, which will be accompanied at times by thunderstorms, is hitting the country today and tomorrow, with all of mainland Portugal and parts of Madeira facing a yellow warning until 3am on Wednesday (October 29). Afterwards, the warning will be upgraded to orange in the southern districts of Faro, Beja, Évora and Setúbal. However, by tomorrow, the warnings will be lifted along the coastal districts of Leiria, Coimbra, Aveiro, Porto, Braga and Viana do Castelo, remaining yellow in the remaining districts.

Temperatures remain mild across the country in the coming days, with maximums ranging from 16ºC to 23ºC and minimums rarely dropping below 9ºC.

While the rainy weather may subside slightly after the weekend, forecasts point to a return of precipitation in several areas of Portugal by Tuesday.
