Suspects ‘on run’; no injuries
Some form of shooting took place early yesterday evening near the Time Out Market in Cais do Sodré, Lisbon, but no-one was hurt.
According to reports, the incident followed a ‘discussion between two groups’, in which at some point a firearm was fired.
A source for the management of Time Out Market Lisbon has told Lusa news agency: “”According to reports from several employees and people who were there, it was a fight between two groups, which culminated in a firearm being fired into the ground. There were no injuries. The noise naturally caused concern among the people in the vicinity.”
Observador online has a slightly different account, saying a police source told its journalist that the shot was definitely aimed at “a citizen, in a possible settling of scores”.
The ‘suspects’ then scattered, and are ‘on the run’, according to Lusa, if not just lying low.
The Time Out source was keen to stress that the incident did not occur ‘within the premises’ of the market.
Police were promptly called, and spent some time taking statements and gathering information about what happened.
According to Observador, agents recovered two shell casings and a bag of clothes which they believe were worn by the suspects. These have been taken for further analysis.
