Swim Party 10km returns to Lagoa’s coast

Swimmers will take on a 10km course along Lagoa's coast

The Algarve’s Swim Party 10km open-water challenge is returning for its second edition along Lagoa’s stunning coast on Saturday, September 6.

The event sees swimmers diving into the water at 7am at Praia do Carvalho, Carvoeiro to face a demanding 10km open-water course, ending at Praia dos Caneiros. Swimmers can take on the distance solo or join a three-person relay team, with each member covering 2.5 km, 1.8 km, or 5.7 km.

Swim Party 10km is organised by Animame Algarve and was created by Carvoeiro native and swimmer Mariana Santos. The idea came to her after taking part in UltraSwim 33.3, a similar event held in Croatia.

“Swimming isn’t just a physical sport, it’s directly related to psychological and mental health,” she said following last year’s edition. “It requires concentration, breath control and individual meditation. The time we’re swimming is time we’re dedicating to ourselves.”

Registrations for this year’s edition are closed, though organisers are already accepting for next year.
