Cat was safely returned to its owner
The crew of the Lagos Lifeboat Station sprang into action today (June 25) to rescue a cat trapped on a cliff at Ponta da Atalaia, in the western Algarve borough of Aljezur.
The alert came in just after 1.20pm from a passerby who noticed the stranded feline. Lifeguards quickly arrived on the scene and found the cat safe but dangerously close to the sea and with no path back to safety.
After a careful rescue operation, the cat was safely brought back and reunited with its grateful owner, the National Maritime Authority (AMN) says in a statement.
