Three Algarve charities have joined forces to create a dedicated auction site – Triple Charity Auction – in aid of vulnerable families and animals.
Su Davis, Support for Families (SF), and Association for Protection of Animals Algarve (APAA) have got together with Lisa from ABLE – Animal Blue Light Emergency to launch the new page, as the existing charity auction on Facebook was already too large.
Offering a unique service, ABLE will pay the initial emergency vet costs for the care of an injured, abandoned animal. Helping humans, ‘Support for Families’ runs a hub in Algoz where parents can come and collect things they need.
Jenny Clarke, president of APAA, smiles: “Clearly, our cat colonies, abandoned animals and humans need help.” Trying to re-build a society that cares, after the Covid-epidemic and now global financial problems, for more than one reason, is not an easy task. “Perhaps that’s why we’re doing a triple-whammy!”
“As always, we at APAA are here to help. But we too need that extra push for SNiP, our own sterilisation programme. Whilst we appreciate we are not the only charity, we do help other associations and shelters not only by moral support but financial assistance where it is most needed.”
Meanwhile, back at Anita Wight’s beautiful countryside home, a fantastic floral arrangement picnic lunch took place. “A lovely group on a wonderful bright sunny day!” Anita was pleased with the APAA lunch raising much-needed money and awareness for SNiP.
Paul and Pasi gave excellent practical advice and tutorial demonstrations, also providing the beautiful vases for the ladies to take their prize possessions home.
The picnic lunch in special boxes was fabulous. Jenny’s homemade edibles included tuna tartlets, savoury Danish pastries, rissoles and a selection of cakes. Scrummy! Check out the APAA events and book now!
Anita is also the ambassador for ‘Legacy for Pets’, urging all pet owners to think of their beloved animals’ welfare should they (owners) be taken ill or unexpectedly die. A simple solution for a complicated issue. A private and caring meeting and conversation is possible.
