With only a few days remaining to opening night, here are 10 reasons to see The Algarveans’ production of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.
- This celebrated off-Broadway hit, a witty musical revue pays tribute to those who have loved and lost, to those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance, and to those who have dared to ask, “Hey, what are you doing Saturday night?”
- The book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro will have some audience members muttering to their partners, “This is so you!”
- The music by Jimmy Roberts will set your toes tapping or pull at your heartstrings.
- Director Paul Legault is ensuring that live theatre is truly “live” by having a small band on stage with the cast.
- The show will be performed at the 300-seat Carlos do Carmo Auditorium, in Lagoa.
- The production features new and old members of The Algarveans, whom regular audiences will have observed going from strength to strength to perfect their performances and extend their repertoire.
- It is very funny, but there are touching moments to remind us that such is life.
- Drinks are available from the bar served by The Algarveans’ front of house crew.
- Tickets are only €12.
- Live theatre provides a great evening’s entertainment on a dull March night. And how much more dodgy karaoke can you endure?
