The Christian organisation Cáritas in Portugal is again launching its Christmas campaign to help disadvantaged people. The initiative, entitled ‘10 Million Stars – A Gesture for Peace 2012’, aims to raise funds through the sale of candles, costing €1 for one and €4 for a pack of four. Over 60% of the funds will be used to support people living under the poverty line throughout Portugal and the remainder will go to support an educational project in the Amazon, Brazil. Candles can be purchased at all Pingo Doce supermarkets across Portugal.
