Quarteira launches contest for mural at new dog park

Artists invited to submit designs with €3,000 prize and public vote to help choose winner

Quarteira parish council has launched a competition for an artistic mural at the town’s new dog park, offering a top prize of €3,000.

The initiative is being organised in partnership with Policromia and is open to artists working individually or in groups, who are invited to submit original proposals for the space.

The mural will be created at the Parque Canino de Quarteira, located on Avenida de Ceuta, near the Continente supermarket. Materials for the project will be provided by the association, while logistical support will be handled by the parish council.

Applications are open until May 1, after which selected proposals will go through a public voting phase between May 13 and May 31. During this period, the community will be able to view the designs and vote anonymously.

The three most popular projects will move on to the final stage, where a jury will select the winning proposal based on the overall evaluation.

The winner is set to be announced on June 15, with the mural expected to be completed by August 31.

According to Quarteira parish council president João Romão, “this competition represents an opportunity to enhance public space through art, directly involving the community in choosing a project that will belong to everyone.”

The official opening of the dog park is scheduled for May 13.

The sign-up form and further information is available on the parish council’s website.
