A 20-year-old man has been formally named a suspect in connection with a hit-and-run collision in Albufeira that left a 19-year-old electric scooter rider with serious injuries.
In a statement to the press, GNR’s Faro Territorial Command said the suspect was named an arguido (official suspect) on Tuesday by the Traffic Accident Crime Investigation Unit (NICAV), on suspicion of causing bodily harm and failing to provide assistance.
The incident dates back to November 30, when a vehicle was involved in a collision with a scooter and fled the scene. The teenager who was on the scooter sustained serious injuries, the GNR said.
An investigation was launched and led to the identification and location of the vehicle involved. The suspect was later identified and located, and the case has been referred to the Criminal Court of Albufeira for further proceedings.
