Algarve targets Brazil in April tourism push

Brazil is the main focus of the Algarve's promotional efforts this month

The Algarve Tourism Association (ATA) is stepping up its push into Brazil this April, putting the spotlight on a fast-growing market with a series of high-profile events aimed at boosting tourism to the region.

Throughout this month, the association will be taking part in three major events aimed at travel agents, tour operators and industry decision-makers in Brazil.

“The Brazilian market deserves special attention in this month’s agenda. We will be present at three key events that put us in direct contact with professionals and decision-makers in the sector. This consistent presence reflects the growing potential of this market for the Algarve,” said ATA president André Gomes, adding that it is one of the effective ways to keep the destination at the top of travellers’ minds.

The campaign begins with the Portugal Trade Meeting roadshow, running from April 5 to April 10, with sessions in cities including Brasília, Curitiba, Belo Horizonte and Salvador.

This is followed by the Travel Summit Orinter on April 13, one of Brazil’s leading tourism industry gatherings. Around 250 travel agents are expected to attend, in a day focused on business, training and networking.

The region will then take part in the World Travel Market Latin America, held in São Paulo from April 14 to April 16. With around 30,000 industry professionals expected, the event offers a major platform to build partnerships with tour operators, airlines and media, while promoting the Algarve’s wider tourism offer, including nature, golf, gastronomy and luxury travel.

Beyond Brazil, the Algarve will also target other international markets throughout the month. From April 13 to April 18, two German journalists will visit the region to walk the Via Algarviana, with the aim of producing coverage focused on outdoor and walking tourism.

In Asia, ATA will attend the inVOYAGE event in Bangkok between April 17 and April 20. The event brings together around 200 international decision-makers in the luxury meetings and incentives sector, offering opportunities to position the region as a destination for high-end corporate events, the tourism association says.

The programme also includes several familiarisation visits. Between April 19 and April 24, around 30 German travel agents will visit the Algarve as part of a trip organised by tour operator Dertour, with a schedule that includes hotel visits and destination experiences. Later in the month, from April 23 to April 27, six Belgian tour operators will explore the region’s outdoor and nature tourism offer.

The campaign wraps up with the TTR Destinations Roadshow in Ireland, taking place from April 28 to April 30 in Dublin, Athlone and Cork. The event will connect the Algarve with Irish travel professionals, helping to strengthen its presence in another key European market.

“Whether through major industry events or by supporting familiarisation visits that bring travel agents and journalists to the region, the goal is always the same: to ensure those who influence travel decisions experience first-hand what the Algarve has to offer,” added Gomes.
