As the grape harvest gets underway in the Algarve, several regional wineries are opening their doors to wine enthusiasts and curious visitors to share the magic of this centuries-old tradition through special programmes.
More than just an agricultural process, the harvest activities offer a unique wine tourism experience during which participants will help pick and foot-stomp grapes and witness wine-producing techniques first-hand, followed by a wine tasting paired with local cuisine.
“The Algarve harvest is more than just a harvest: it’s an invitation to experience the authenticity of the region, fully connecting the land and wine culture”, says the Algarve Wine Commission.
Two of the programmes available are organised by Villa Alvor in Portimão (September 1) and Quinta da Tôr in Loulé (September 7).

Villa Alvor – September 1
To celebrate the harvest month, Villa Alvor is organising a programme that goes far beyond the traditional grape harvest. The Harvest Programme, which will take place on September 1, includes activities such as the “Test Your Senses” game, which is a test of the senses, an exciting and educational jeep tour through the vineyards, the harvest at sunset, and culminates in an elegant wine dinner with commentary and live music.

Quinta da Tôr – September 7
Join the Quinta da Tôr family for an immersive and all-encompassing wine experience! Immerse yourself in the ancient craft of grape harvesting, enjoy the traditional art of grape treading as done by past generations, and conclude with a delicious family-made lunch and wine tasting.
