Easter week starts with clear skies and rising temperatures. Maximums could reach 26º Celsius on Tuesday and Wednesday, although nights will remain cold, meteorologist Angela Lourenço has told Lusa.
The sun will predominate, bringing mild daytime temperatures which exceed the seasonal average for late March, said the meteorologist from Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere IPMA.
However, once the ‘peak’ of Tuesday and Wednesday is over, a ‘downward trend will follow from Thursday’, says Lourenço, with slight changes and minor decreases expected.
Mild daytime temperatures and cold nights will generally characterise the week, though there will be “significant cooling overnight, particularly in inland areas and the Alentejo plains.”
Wind could be moderate to strong along the west coast and in the highlands, with morning mist or fog also possible.
Bottom line: spring-like weather, warmer than usual for this time of year, will persist until at least Thursday. Rain is unlikely until Easter Sunday, although it could return on Monday, April 6.
