An annual charity golf competition involving 20 players from Palmares golf club and 20 players from Boavista golf club, both located near Lagos, raised more than 1,800 euros in aid of the Lagos Children’s Orphanage.
The 40 players played in a pairs better-ball format, with one member of each club making up the pair.
All green fees on the day were donated by the host club, Boavista, to the charity while extra funds were raised during a charity auction after the competition.
Boavista captain Nick Rogers said: “The present economic climate is not good so I would like to thank everyone who made an effort to play and I would also like to thank those who donated the winner’s prizes, all auction items and Boavista for the green fees.”
Winners of the competition this year were Amanda Rogers of Boavista and Nick Daly of Palmares, who finished with a score of 45 points.
