Arte Doce brings sweet entertainment to Lagos

This year’s festival promises a delicious mix of traditional Algarve sweets

From July 23 to 27, Lagos will once again come alive with the flavours and sounds of one of the Algarve’s most beloved summer events – the Arte Doce Festival.

For five days, the Lagos sports complex will transform into a festive hub for families, food lovers, and music fans alike. With free entry and a packed program, this year’s festival promises a delicious mix of traditional Algarve sweets, live music, cultural showcases, crafts, food stalls, and plenty of entertainment.

The 2025 edition of Arte Doce will follow the theme “Meeting of Cultures for Peace”, celebrating diversity through food, music, and shared experiences. This year, the guest region is Beira Interior, which will bring a taste of central Portugal to the Algarve.

Visitors can expect a vibrant blend of activities, including daily live performances on multiple stages, cooking demonstrations, children’s entertainment, and a stunning exhibition of traditional sweets participating in the event’s highly anticipated competition.

There will also be live showcooking events focusing on regional delicacies like Dom Rodrigo and Doce Fino. These sessions, hosted by the Algarve Sweets Association (ADRA), include a hands-on workshop just for kids aged 7 to 12.

Arte Doce will also feature an international twist, with cooking demos led by Ukrainian chef Andriy Prysyaznhyuk (ORANTA), Italian chef Maria Francesca Diogardi, and chefs Raquel and Rui Ramos from Beira Interior.

Children will have their own dedicated Doçura ou Travessura (Trick or Treat) area, open daily from 6pm to midnight, featuring workshops, inflatables, and science experiences from the Centro Ciência Viva on July 26 and 27.

The festival is also famous for its respectable musical line-up, which every year attracts big Portuguese names. 2025 will be no exception, and confirmed musical acts include Maninho (July 23), Os Quatro e Meia (July 24), Bárbara Tinoco (July 25), Ivandro (July 26) and Sara Correia (July 27)

The event will begin daily at 6pm, with free admission.
