The first board meeting of the Entidade Regional de Turismo do Algarve (Algarve tourism board) under the presidency of the newly appointed Desidério Silva was held on Friday last week. The meeting followed Silva’s participation in the London World Travel Market last week and thus, a hot topic in the agenda was the British market, traditionally the most important for the Algarve, generating the most overnight stays (4.2 million in 2011).
