Charity Fado Night in support of Portimão’s Explorer Scouts

For those keen to experience a traditional Portuguese fado night, this is an event not to be missed.

A Charity Fado Night will take place on Saturday, January 31 at the Sociedade Vencedora Portimense in Portimão, in support of the local Explorer Scouts from Portimão’s 159th Group of the National Scout Corps.

The Explorer Scouts (Grupo de Pioneiros) are keen to take part in the 16th Azorean Jamboree, which will take place on São Miguel Island between July 21 and 27, 2026.

Given that the travel and participation costs for the 30 young people are considerable, totalling approximately €10,000, the Scouts Group has been developing a series of activities to raise the necessary funds to participate in this important event.

In view of the dedication and work that these young people have put in over the last few months, the Sociedade Vencedora Portimonense community association decided to get involved by organising the first fundraising fado night of 2026, titled Noite de Fados Solidária. Proceeds from the show will go to the young Scouts.

From 9.30pm, fado singers Helena Candeias, Inês Gonçalves and João Leote will take the stage at Sociedade Vencedora Portimonense, accompanied by Vitor do Carmo on the Portuguese guitar and José Santana on the fado guitar.

Entrance fee is 15 ‘fados’, which includes a drink, bread with chorizo and caldo verde (iconic Portuguese cabbage soup).

For those keen to experience a traditional Portuguese fado night, this is an event not to be missed.

The Sociedade Vencedora Portimonense is located at Rua Prof. José Buísel 64.
