Almancil’s Social and Cultural Association (ASCA) has prepared a series of Christmas activities this month, in order to provide a better festive season for all its needy members and the local community.
On December 9, from 9am to 1pm, there will be the traditional Christmas bazaar at the ASCA headquarters, with the usual stalls selling clothing, shoes, toys, accessories, Christmas decorations and other items at reduced prices. Proceeds from the bazaar will help fund ASCA’s day-to-day running.
On December 17, a group of 10 local needy children will enjoy amazing Christmas moments at the Conrad Hotel in Quinta do Lago, which will provide snacks, fun activities and even a visit from Santa.
In keeping with the Christmas spirit, the Conrad Hotel had previously asked ASCA to identify children from the poorest households in Almancil; the children then wrote letters to Santa listing what they would like the most for Christmas.
On December 19, at 3pm, the association will join Loulé Câmara for the delivery of Christmas hampers to families in need living in the Almancil parish.
ASCA’s Christmas Party for the elderly who use the association’s nursing home, day-care centre and domestic support services will take place on December 20; they will be joined by their families and carers as well as members of the ASCA board and other guests.
ASCA has also joined forces with the Algarve’s association for underprivileged children ACCA to deliver presents to 141 needy children living in Almancil, previously identified by ASCA and municipal schools.
ASCA’s main activity is dedicated in particular to the elderly, providing several services to guarantee comfort, dignity and quality of life for those living in the community of Almancil.
