Competition heats up on the Alamos course

Hot summer temperatures were not enough to put off golfers from taking part in the latest Blevins Franks ProAm Golf Series held on July 11 on the Álamos course near Portimão.

Michael Sykes led his team of amateur golfers, Peter Fisher, Thomas Wiggans and Eileen Fisher, to victory with a consistent round and a winning score of 97 points.

Runners up at the event were a team led by professional golfer Nelson Cavalheiro with Francisco Faustino, Nuno Miguel da Silva Faustino and Edward Baldwin finishing with 93 points, while golf pro José Cautela led Elder Dias, Richard Evans and Julie Evans finished in  third place with 90 points with Nuno Faustino taking the nearest to the pin prize on the day.

José Dias, winner of the previous Blevins Franks ProAm, had to settle for second place as António Sobrinho showed better form from the bunkers and picked up first prize while Nelson Cavalheiro and José Cautela finished in third and fourth places respectively.

Prizes were presented by Adrian Hook of Blevins Franks with winner António Sobrinho thanking the sponsors Blevins Franks, Mike Hamon from event organisers, G4 Professional Golf Tours and the course management and marshals for making the event a success.
